2016 Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy

The 2016 Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy took place this year from February 21 to February 26, 2016. The Teachers Institute is a unique professional development opportunity for teachers of governance and citizenship education. The program brings together approximately 70 educators from across the country, for an intensive, informative, unforgettable week on Parliament Hill. It is coordinated by the Library of Parliament and supported by the Speakers of both the Senate and the House of Commons.

As in previous years, the Educational Foundation of the Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians is proud to offer ten bursaries of $500 each to educators who have been selected to attend the Teachers Institute during the current year and who are unable to attend without financial assistance, and such assistance is not available from their school, school district, or professional association.

On February 24, 2016, Mr. Francis LeBlanc represented the CAFP at the Dinner with Parliamentarians, one of the events related to the Teachers Institute. Photo highlights of the Dinner with Parliamentarians are shown below.
