What's New...
At the invitation of the Iraqi High Electoral Commission, the International Election Monitors Institute (IEMI) has deployed a six-person team to observe aspects of the March 7, 2010 Iraqi elections. IEMI was jointly created by the Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians, the Former Members Association of the European Parliament and the United States Association of Former Members of Congress. Two Canadian former parliamentarians are taking part in this mission – Douglas C. Rowland, former CAFP President and President Emeritus of IEMI, is leading the team. The Hon. Paul DeVillers is the second Canadian on the team. For more information, please consult our press release, available in English, French, Arabic and Kurdish. Biographies of the six team members are also available in English, French, Arabic and Kurdish.
The Annual General Meeting will take place in Ottawa from June 6 to June 8, 2010. Additional details will be posted on this website as soon as they are available.

-
Through its Educational Foundation, CAFP has contributed to the disaster relief effort in Haiti. On January 21, CAFP donated $5,000 and committed to match dollar for dollar individual contributions made by its members, who are former Members of the Senate of Canada and the House of Commons, up to an additional $5,000. Within hours, CAFP had received notice of contributions from its members to fully allocate the additional $5,000. We commend our members for their generosity.
