Political Passages: Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin

It is with great sadness that we learned that the 43rd Speaker of the Senate, the Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin, passed away in Montréal on April 23, 2015..Speaker Nolin represented the senatorial division of De Salaberry, Québec in the Senate from 1993 until 2015. He was named Speaker of the Senate on November 27, 2014.

He leaves behind his wife Camille, his children Simon (Marie-Pier Mignault), Louis (Joëlle Arseneault) and Virginie (Catherine Olivier), his grandchildren Elliot, Théodore and Flavie, his sister Marie (Richard Landry), his brothers François (Diane Gauthier), Jacques (Jennifer Boire) and Benoît, his sisters-in-law Marie-Claude and Anne Desjardins (Pierre Audette), and many friends and family members.

The Lying in Repose will take place in the Senate Chamber in Ottawa on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Complexe Urgel Bourgie, 3955 Côte de Liesse, Ville St-Laurent, Montréal, on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, April 30, as of 9:30 a.m. The funeral will be held at Montréal’s Notre Dame Basilica at 2:00 p.m.
